About Darron Bacal, M.D., M.B.A.
Dr. Darron Bacal graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor in Science. He received his medical degree from Sidney Kimmel Medical College (Thomas Jefferson University) in Philadelphia. He completed his Ophthalmology residency at the University of Maryland Medical System and was selected Chief Resident in his final year. He pursued fellowship training in Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia which he completed in 1997.
Dr. Bacal obtained his MBA from the Pennsylvania State University.
Dr. Bacal has been in private practice for 28 years in Connecticut and is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at Yale. He is joining Lederman & Lederman, LLP in January 2025.
Dr. Bacal is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is on staff of White Plains Hospital and Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Dr. Bacal is an Honor Roll member of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS). He is the former Chair of the Professional Education Committee of AAPOS and has served on the Socio-economic Committee as well as the Public Education Committee. He is a reviewer for multiple ophthalmology journals.
Dr. Bacal has been a national speaker for Alcon and Coopervision and has been an invited lecturer at multiple state Ophthalmology meetings.
Dr. Bacal was the Co-Chair of the American Academy of Pediatrics task force on vision disorders associated with concussions. He has also served as a member of the Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group, a national research organization.
Dr. Bacal has over 30 medical research publications and has written chapters for medical textbooks.
